Science Fiction

Thursday my doctor’s office received a very expensive package from the cryobank. Luckily, I have a friend there who gave me a backstage pass and sent me some important photos.

This reminds me very much of Mork from Ork, who landed on earth and hatched from a space egg. I spent a good amount of my formative years watching a weird mix of  Nick at Nite (Bewitched, Green Acres, Mork and Mindy, etc) and A&E’s An Evening At The Improv – which should explain a lot about my weird personality/hilarity.

It also reminds me of all pods with aliens and weird science fiction movies I’ve seen. I wasn’t there, but I assume when this thing was opened it made a loud clunking and then depressurizing sound and everyone took a step back, eyes wide.

Here’s what’s inside.

That’s 3 attempts at a baby. The first of which will happen in less than a month.

This is not a drill, people. Serious stuff is about to start happening here.

So, like a total weirdo, I’ve been showing people these photos – look!

I’m not totally sure what they’re supposed to say aside from “that’s weird!” I mean, that’s what I thought. But, people are excited. I’m excited. I hope it works on the first try, but who knows.

I was told from a friend who’s gone through this already that when she did her IUI, they did the procedure before and after her ovulation day – which might be a thing I ask about if it doesn’t work on the first round. But, of course she had a different story so who knows.

I’m deeply considering taking some super cute expecting mother photos with the Space Egg. Looking lovingly towards it, cradling it in my arms. Keeping it on the mantel at the house so I can say “that’s your space egg that you hatched from, kiddo!” Seems like a solid plan.
