If you’re wondering what’s been happening this week, you are not alone. The first week after I took the pregnancy tests was all kinds of busy and exciting. Two doctors appointments! Encouraging numbers both times! A scan was scheduled for the 7th. How exciting!
This week? Crickets. I have gotten zero reassurance that this thing is actually happening – aside from sore boobs and generally being a little more tired than usual. The good news is that so far nothing worrisome has happened and I’m trying to stay positive, but not getting glowing reports from the fertility office has been hard. Since I was born in 1981 they say I’m actually a Millennial – in the current situation, I believe it. I need some positive feedback, people!
At this point, I keep calling this impending baby The Parasite because at this point it doesn’t SEEM like a baby at all (and it makes my friends laugh instead of staring awkwardly at me trying to comprehend that I’m knocked up). Plus there was this episode of House that broached this subject:

It always makes me laugh.
My mom and I went to “look” at cribs yesterday but it happens to be Labor Day Weekend so the store (where she bought MY nursery furniture 35 years ago) was having a big sale, so of course I went ahead and bought the thing. I won’t be picking it up for a bit since my Civic isn’t built for hauling furniture, but will end up dragging it up to the house sometime soon.
So far not much is making me FEEL pregnant aside from the fact that I think it would appear that I am. I’ve officially missed my first period in 24 years, so I guess that’s a sign. I’ll be glad to go get the scan done this week so I can at least feel more comfortable that things are going well. Some say at 6 weeks (where I’ll be next week) you can hear a heartbeat. We’ll see.
