13 Weeks – Denver

Starting my 13th week at a conference in Denver, CO has been fun so far. My friend and I got out here early for our Women’s Accounting Conference (JEALOUS?!?!) that lasts most of the week. Sunday, we got here and walked a lot – 5 miles by the end of our day. Monday was a free day and we (guess what?) walked some more! Delicious breakfast and a trip to the Denver Zoo clocked us at 7 miles our second day. Needless to say, we’re sleeping well!

At our conference today, a speaker talked about putting yourself first as a foundation for staying healthy and being able to give to others. For the first time, I’ve found myself saying “I’m sorry, I can’t,” or “no” to things during this pregnancy. Part of it, of course, is from being a little more tired, but another part is self-care. Which is funny, I guess, since it’s partially care for someone else.

She also talked about deciding what you’re passionate about and GOING for it – and I felt really proud of myself because that’s exactly what I did with this baby. I had some serious self reflection and realized what was important to me and then I took what some would call “brave” steps to make it happen instead of just sitting around hoping or wishing or waiting. So good for me. Good for us, Ember.

On a less self-congratulatory note, here’s a 13 week size update:

Hooray Nemo!
