21 weeks – Almost Christmas

21 weeks and these weird size comparison options on the app can be confusing sometimes. The general story is that she’s 10 1/2 inches long and about 12oz now, but how that translates into this I have no idea.

Apparently she can also be compared to a baby bok choy but that is also semi useless to me. The Regular Internet suggests a carrot. Either way, she’s moving around more obviously now than before, so I’m reminded on a more regular basis that I am, in fact, pregnant.

Getting ready for the holidays has kept me busy, but I’m really looking forward to holidays with Ember going forward. Christmas is a great time to be with family and friends, but I think having your own family must make it more special. I’m excited for next year to be her First Christmas and all that will entail.

I slacked this year and only sent out a handful of Christmas cards – pondering momentarily if I should do some kind of “expecting” announcement but then decided that This was a weekly announcement of all things that people may or may not even find interesting already.

I’m also still in that awkward stage of chunky without much of a bump – so pregnancy photos don’t feel quite right yet. I will get there, I’m sure, and will feel like it’s time to take some – at some point. My friend Ashley was telling me today that she really noticed a difference in the mid-20 week mark so I’ll keep an eye out. At this point, although my smart friends tell me I look pregnant, I am still pretty sure the untrained eye would just wonder what I’d been eating lately.

I’m still holding strong at not having gained many pounds (less than 5 so far), but with a recommendation of only picking up 15 total, I feel like I’m just trying to hold out as long as I can before the avalanche begins. At some point soon, I know it’ll be an impossible task to keep weight off. I figure the longer it takes to put on, the better.

Plus, holiday season is not an easy time to eat sparingly. I’m just trying to make it through!!
