22 weeks today roughly translates into 5 1/2 months pregnant, and I’m proud to say I’m still holding strong at having added less than 5lbs. Although I’m starting to LOOK pregnant, I’m not alarmingly huge yet. YET. I know it’s coming. I’m trying to stave off the avalanche.
Ember is now 12″ long and about a pound. This app I use had some good size comparisons for 22 weeks, so I’m including multiples.
Christmas this year was nice, spending Christmas Eve with The Boyfriend’s Family and then Christmas Day with mine, and Christmas Evening together in the quiet of the house, but I look forward to next year more. Even though Kiddo will be too small to know what’s going on, it’ll be fun to have her with all the family around the holidays. I know it’s probably not a popular sentiment, but at this point, Christmas without many kids seems to sort of drag on. While visiting with family is nice, having such a small one myself means that we already see each other pretty often. I’ve got some cousins that come to town in the summers and I’ll be glad to see them next year (they trade off Christmas with different sides of their family which is spread out), but for the most part Christmas just felt like a repeat of Thanksgiving.

I remember thinking “well, I’m sure I’ll have a cute little pregnant belly by Thanksgiving” and not really showing then, followed by “surely by Christmas…” While I’m thankful not to be uncomfortable or adding too many pounds, now I’m ready to actually SHOW. I guess we can’t ever be happy with what we’ve got!
I do feel very lucky to have so many friends and family that are excited for me. I’ve already started stocking away items that are getting handed over – a friend even offered a jogging stroller yesterday which I will happily go and pick up this week. I’ve got a big box of 12 month clothes and even set up a swing on my own (through some sweat and frustration) before the holidays hit. The cats are dubious about the whole thing and Penny keeps leaning over the edge of the swing, pondering if it’s sturdy enough for her to call it her own.
So far my New Years Resolution is to work on letting go and de-cluttering – which I already started some yesterday and plan to keep working on. I am well aware that STUFF will fill my house quickly as we get closer and closer to actual BABY TIME, so as I build up to it, hopefully I can let go of more and more of the things that I don’t need or want and pass them along to those who could use it.
