26 Weeks – Cookie Quest 2017

Okay, look, I have two accounting degrees. I don’t know why this “weeks pregnant = months pregnant” thing is so complicated. What I DO know is that I’m 26 weeks pregnant today. Math logic (and the internet?) says that means I’m 6 1/2 months. BUT I’m due May 1st, and if you count backwards that means April – May (9 months), March – April (8 months), February – March (7 months), so doesn’t that mean I’m actually six months on February 1st? I don’t know. I happen to know that one of the things that makes me kinda crazy is when I can’t figure out things that SHOULD BE SIMPLE. So for now, we’ll keep it at weeks. 26 week size comparison below. If you don’t know what a Slow Loris is, I highly recommend that you ask the internet to show you a video of it being tickled because it’s just totally adorable.

Another cool thing this app does is offers a size comparison between tiny baby hand at 9 months and tiny baby hand now.

In other news, I have officially found my “oh this pregnant girl is CA-RAZY” thing and it just happens to be Sugar Cookie Quest 2017. Being pregnant so far hasn’t been TOO weird, but until now I’ve never REALLY been a sweets fan. I’d take a slice of pizza or some onion rings over cake most days. Well, not currently. Currently I think deep thoughts about milkshakes, but what I’ve found is this: it’s never as good as I think it’s going to be. So the other day I was thinking about snacks and decided I certainly would like to have a sugar cookie. So I went and bought one. And it wasn’t quite right. I had a vision of what this cookie should taste like – consistency, flavor, icing, etc. So I looked for another. And another. I’ve been on Cookie Question 2017 for about two weeks now. Not that these cookies were bad, they were all perfectly fine. They just weren’t RIGHT.

So far, the only winner in this process (aside from local bakeries) has been my boyfriend and other pals who are around when I find my newest “not quite” cookie. No one has complained.

I went by the doctor yesterday, and all is well. Ember is still on track – heartbeat at 150 (“perfect” says the doctor). She’s settled into an up and down position at this point, but it still feels like she’s stomping around pretty low to me. Next appointment holds all kinds of excitement – glucose test, ultrasound, and misc check up.

Baby showers are being planned for February and March, my registry is updated and I continue to have friends hand me things to put into her room. I’m eternally grateful for all the help and attention throughout this progress. I’m lucky to have so many people who are excited for this adventure.
