Ember went to see Dr Katie today for the first time and had her second car ride. I TOTALLY forgot to call and make a 2 day post-hospital release appointment, so when we got up this morning, I called at 8:30.
Gigi had taken the night shift and I was seriously hoping I could let her sleep in, but when the office told me they could get us in at 10 am, I knew that we’d have to rush off. Luckily, Gigi was up and at ’em and we were out the door by 9:30. As someone who usually takes all of fifteen minutes to get ready, that one hour window was plenty of time for me to get up and go, but most normal people (including Gigi) take longer. I was impressed with how quickly she went from asleep to out the door. I packed kiddo’s diaper bag for the first time, did some quick math on feeding times, and off we went.
Dr Katie Gooden has been a friend since elementary school and follows the blog, so when we got there today, she already had some of the story filled in. We talked about her trip to the NICU, generally how to tell if she’s “ok” without being too stressed out all the time, etc etc.
Ember is looking great – she’s weighing in at 5lbs 10oz, which is getting close to her 6lb original debut weight. Dr Katie said everything looked good and was very positive. And she enjoyed a few cuddly minutes with kiddo. We can’t wait to meet her newest addition to her family coming in June – another girl to add to her already fantastic crew! Congrats to Dr Katie!

Although Ember didn’t fully enjoy every second of her appointment, she did a great job and had lots of people stopping us to check her out and tell us how cute she is. Of course.

We’re back home for the afternoon and evening, and about to take a quick nap now that Ember has had lunch.
People keep saying they think she looks a lot like me, but I don’t see it yet. My mom dug out my baby book last night, though, and I guess in photos I DO see it.
