Today Ember is one week old. One week ago everything in the world changed for the better and I couldn’t be happier.
I’ve gotten enough sleep lately to allow for logical thought processes as well as general sanity. I don’t burst into tears every time I look at her anymore, which is a little more functional than being a raw bundle of nerves and feelings. Not to say I’m not totally blissed out and overjoyed every second, because I am.
When I was in elementary school at St Nicholas, they would have us come up to the front of the church on the morning of our birthday and have a birthday prayer for each of us. On the day after she was born, a St Nicholas alum posted this same prayer on my Facebook page for her.

We’ve had so much fun the past few days that I cannot even imagine what the next 18 years is going to be like.

Every day she looks more different as she grows up and changes. Her eating is going great – she’s a hungry little hippo and I couldn’t be happier.

We’ve had some visitors come by this week and we are so happy to have people who care about us both. Uncle Matt came by yesterday as we were getting breakfast.

We also had Aunt Phoebe swing by with much needed supplies, and an unnecessary but beautiful bunny rabbit gift that Gigi fell in love with immediately.

This kid will have SO many aunts and uncles – especially considering she’s the daughter of an only child. I can’t wait for everyone to meet her! Our Meal Train evenings start tonight – which was way too early as we are currently swimming in food.
In general, the update is that everything is amazing and we are so happy to have her.
Happy One Week Birthday, Ember Walker Rose!
