Today Ember had a big day. After much general annoyance, I decided it was time to get a new phone (Jesse, you were right, I needed a better camera to take important baby photos among other things). Luckily, I have a friend who works at Verizon (let me know if you need his contact info because he’s AWESOME), so I got in touch.
Originally Kevin’s mom was going to come up to the house and visit today, but the stars aligned and it turned out that she lives very close to the Verizon store we needed to go to.
After an old friend dropped by to visit (with a Frozen-themed Big Wheel for kiddo down the line and a bottle of wine), Kevin and I packed up kiddo and away we went. We dropped Ember off with his mom for about an hour and a half, and went off to the store. I’m not sure she knew at the time, but this was the first time since Ember was born that I left her with anyone else. Sure, I’ve been in the other room while my mom watched her, but never just to hand my baby to someone and drive away. Note: Kevin did the driving – he chauffeured us around in extremely safe and cautious style and I was quite appreciative.
I was totally comfortable letting Ember visit with her while we picked up a new phone as well as a tablet (they’re running a special!). We got home just in time to have my friend from work (the wife of my Verizon guy) drop by to visit the baby. Soon after, my first Meal Train dinner arrived from a Gym Buddy, who happily held Ember on our front porch while her own kids squirmed in (and almost out of) the car in the driveway.
After everyone cleared out, Gigi, Kevin, and I sat down to a lovely homemade lasagna dinner without having to lift a finger. We capped the night off with spending quality time together on the couch with our tiny girl.

Who says Friday Night Date Night has to include being outside the house?
We’re perfectly happy right here.
