One Month Check-up

Ember went for her One Month Check-up today with Dr Katie and everything looks great. Mommy, on the other hand, has been dealing with a fever for 4 days and a mild case of mastitis – luckily it hasn’t been too bad, but it’s added to the tired, sore, hot/cold life I was already living.

Kiddo is up to 7lbs 9oz and her height is in the 15th percentile, head size is in the 20th, and weight is closer to the 10th. Poor girl may have some Tall Skinny Girl problems that her short curvy mother will have no answers to – ha ha. Luckily she’s got some Aunts that could help. I’m glad she’s getting bigger and everything looks good otherwise. She did get a hepatitis B shot in her little leg before we left, and although she let out a red faced wail, it wasn’t so bad. Due to her recent bouts with getting upset after eating and fighting sleep, I’ve seen her pretty mad over things that turned out not to be an issue a minute or two later. When she got the shot (DAMN that needle looked big!), she went from zero to red-faced-wailing, but quickly quieted down afterward.

For Mother’s Day we were able to go spend some quality time with Gigi and we had a blast – although the main thing I wanted was to get in a nap, which didn’t happen that day.

Luckily, today I was able to nap and sleep almost an hour and a half – but a slight miscommunication meant that my lovely nap not ending in time made us almost late for her doctors appointment and lead to us rushing like crazy people to get out of the house and across town in time. And by “in time” I mean 15 minutes late, but it didn’t end up being an issue at all.

We’ll miss Dr Katie while she’s on maternity leave, but we may sneak by the house to visit her – especially on a day when her other two kiddos are in day care!

She’s started to grow out of her Newborn clothes and is moving into 0-3 months. I realized this the other day when her footy pajams had NO GIVE and trying to put them on seemed to be a serious struggle. So I took some time today to pack away her Newborn clothes and start adding in 0-3 month items. We are SO lucky to have so many clothes given to us!! Thanks to everyone who contributed as well as those who continue to do so!
