Ember is 2 months old today!

She’s over 9lbs and I’ve officially put away her Newborn clothes. She’s alert and really enjoys her play mat and is working hard on her tummy time.
She has some BIG fans here at the house. Anytime she cries, Penny comes meowing at me as if to say “somebody fix the baby!” As if one more person yelling at me is going to help, but I appreciate the gesture.

She’s also got another big fan here at the house. They watch a lot of baseball and racing together and often I will sneak off for a nap during his “weekend” days off work and let him run the show. He does a great job. Note: cats are never far away.

We took some photos together this weekend at Gigi’s house and I’m very happy with how they turned out. Of course, when we got ready to take them SOMEONE was extremely sleepy. Luckily, we were able to take a nap together on the screened in porch afterwards.
Chaise lounge naps are the best, right Ember? (She didn’t sleep here, but I did.)
She’s starting to sleep for longer stretches (sometimes) and we’re working on moving out of the rock n’ play (hammock type sleeper) and into the pack n’ play (baby crate) and crib to get ready for day care. Speaking of which, we are happy to report that after a lot of sweat, stress, and obscenities, we’ve decided to go to Signal Centers and were happy to drop off our paperwork and first check today. I’ll be taking her the week before I go back to work as a dry run – for her but mostly for me. Being away from her a few hours at a time has been alright, but I’m always ready to get her back – “okay but it’s been four hours now so I need to see my baby, thanks.”
So it’s already June and I’ll start doing more work from home as she starts to sleep longer. I have to admit, I do miss my spreadsheets here and there. I am impressed with the women who are stay at home moms, but I’m not sure I’d be cut out for it. I’ve had so much fun with her and I’m already starting to worry and be sad about going back to work, but I also miss having a schedule that isn’t 3 hours at a time. It seems like the days fly by, and I’m sure getting 4 hours of sleep each night doesn’t help.
We’ve found a good balance between going and staying, taking it easy and getting things done. I’ve started back to the gym once or twice a week and although I was in hobbling pain the next day, it’s totally worth it and I’m so glad to have such good friends who encourage me to go back (and offer to watch the baby!).
