3 Months Old

Ember Walker Rose is 3 months old today! That’s a quarter of a year. It seems like it’s gone by so quickly but it also seems like she’s always been here.

I couldn’t pick my favorite, so I went with two this time around.

Of course, she’s beginning to be an expert at stomping as well as smiling, so you know we’ve got to have a few more photos.

She’s so much fun – she likes to play and snuggle and continues to be a happy baby. Sure, she has her moments, but who could blame her? Of course she wails when you take the bottle away to burp her – wouldn’t you be upset if your steak dinner got snatched from under your nose when you were starving?  And don’t we all want to let out a loud groan after eating too much?

We head to daycare soon and I am excited for her and for me – they’ll do so much fun stuff there and I’ll have so much fun back at my desk with spreadsheets and journal entries. Well, that may be a tad optimistic, but it’ll be good for both of us. I’ve got her signed up for the week before I go back to work in hopes of dipping our toes in slowly – she will be fine, it’s me that I’m worried about.

After about four hours away from her, I’m read to throw in the towel on whatever I’m doing and go hang out with my tiny baby again. I’m sure that will get better, but I’m also sure it will always be that way. I AM looking forward to getting out of the house and back to work so that I don’t sit around thinking of all the things I need to do here all day long, and it will be nice to be with other adults 8 hours a day again.

Of course, I will miss our time together but it may make our evenings and weekends and days off more sweet and important – I take her for granted now and often choose housework over baby snuggles. But, to maintain sanity, I have to do both.

She’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me and I’m just so glad we’ve had this time together at home. I’m blessed beyond measure with this tiny perfect person.
