A sick baby is a heartbreaker. Ember has had a tough week – she had a fever earlier in the week after a bout of tummy trouble. She’s had some congestion but last night it turned into a full blown problem. She spiked a fever, but it’s back down now and she’s just a sad little craggy bear.
With hurricane Irma impending and tearing up lives all over the place and Harvey before that, it gives me such perspective on what we have to suffer through while others suffer in far greater ways. It’s so tough to have a sick baby – I can’t imagine having evacuated from our home and dealing with a sick baby. Or having lost our home. Or loved ones. Every day there is so much suffering and pain in the world that my daily struggles feel small. But when you’re up at 4 am with a baby spiking a fever, it feels plenty big.
Before she felt bad, we had the opportunity to attend the 2017 Gnome Games, an annual lawn party that our friends throw. Part of the deal is that you are expected to dress up, so we went as Thing 1 and Thing 2.
Of course, she was adorable.
Daddy comes home from a trip to Chicago soon – sadly it will be to a house full of sick and whiny people (I’m also a complete snot head). We were lucky to have Gigi with us this weekend – in fact, she’s off picking up some medicine for us right now!
Here’s hoping next week will be better for us!
