Here’s the thing about being pregnant when you have a toddler. I’m not sure you actually have TIME to be pregnant or notice much, at least.
It’s definitely snuck up this time. Suddenly I’m 19 weeks (some call that 5 months?) pregnant and both Kevin and I find ourselves forgetting that it’s even happening sometimes.
I’m starting to “show” which is good and also frustrating. I dug out my old maternity clothes and some from friends this weekend and shuffled the closet around. I packed away some jeans I know I won’t see again for a while and other things that made me wonder why I even had them.
I’m tired but am pretty sure that’s more related to the now 2 year old I’m chasing around than being pregnant, but I know it contributes. I used to spend time after Ember went to bed (8pm) getting stuff done around the house and now I find myself just wanting to do nothing. Of course, the 4 month cold and allergy nightmare both Kevin and I (and Ember) have been working through probably doesn’t help either.
But I did get a coat of primer on the dresser this weekend – and then realized the paint I was going to use from a few years ago (okay probably like 5?) had completely dried up. Oops.
We went out Saturday and got Second Round’s crib – which just happens to be the same one Ember has. We really like it and they both convert into a daybed and then a full bed, so we figured we’d be set for quite a while.
Our next big step will be getting the full mattress and box springs for the bedroom and then once I get the dresser painted I can actually start putting it all together. And have an alternate sleeping space as needed for when SOMEONE snores so loud (it’s me).
We are excited but also reasonable enough to know that it’s going to be a big change and a lot of work. I’d venture to say we went into the First Round the same way, although a LOT more was up in the air back then. Now we at least know what Ember has been like and have that to help guide us – maybe? I hear every baby is totally different, but I also know we are totally different from who we were 2 years ago, too.
Our big 20 week appointment is at the end of the month where we will be able to see more of this tiny person (1/2 lb and 6 inches long right now) and hopefully get more good news.
Here are a lot of weekly update photos I haven’t shared! This week, she’s a Gameboy!
