20 Weeks – Halfway There

We went for our big twenty week anatomy scan this Tuesday and got to see tiny new baby shuffling around in the ultrasound. She is still mostly blobby but seems to be more and more of a real person. We watched her heartbeat (145) and saw fun stuff like kidneys and femurs and brains.

All looked well from the scans but per usual we didn’t get to see everything (only 3 of the 4 chambers of her heart) so we will be seeing her again at 28 weeks to check on growth and progress.

Of course I’m excited because we will get to see her again and hopefully continue to hear only good news.

Ember is doing well and seems excited about the pending baby sister. She was reading an Elmo book today about it and giggling. I’m sure reality will be a transition for everyone but she’s already very nurturing of her classmates and LOVES babies so at least we’ve got some hope there.

At 20 Weeks new baby is 10 inches long and about 12oz. And the most exciting part is that we’ve settled on a name for this kiddo. Since I had ALL the choices for Ember’s name, I let Kevin lead the way on this round. We looked at long lists together and both kept circling around the same name until we settled in on it. Plus, when Ember said her name it was ADORABLE so we knew it was already decided for us.

We are excited to meet our newest little person coming in September, Zora Wilder Harris.

(Ember says “Zoh-Rah” and it’s just about the best thing ever.)
