34 Weeks

We are on weekly trips to the doctors office now to keep an eye on Zora’s weight and also fluid levels. The good news is that she’s measuring as “normal” with an AFI of between 8.5-8.7 over the last two visits. Although she’s not swimming in an Olympic sized pool, she’s still in the low end of “normal” which is good news after the trouble we ran into with Ember. Her growth went up last visit but we won’t check in on size again until 36 weeks.

She’s also head down, so even though we’re planning a C section, she’s in the right position as opposed to her stubborn breech sister who was in no way interested in cooperating.

We finally got a “oh look, a baby!” Ultrasound photo this past week, which was nice to see.

Hi Baby Zora! Thanks for the wave and finally showing us your tiny face.

Zora stays busy ALL day, turning and shuffling and doing all kinds of things that stop me in the middle of my day and make me pause. It’s so interesting to have OTHER people be able to feel more involved this time by being able to see or feel her move. Apparently EVERYONE loves to feel a baby kick or do barrel rolls or whatever yoga she’s doing in there.

Last weekend Kevin and I took a solo trip to Helen, GA for a pre-baby-vacation. We had fun although it was pretty hot – 13,000 steps didn’t feel as easy at 7+ months pregnant and Kevin obliged when I asked if we could siesta around 2 on Saturday after a full morning of walking and snacking.

We had a great time with local restaurants, shopping, mini golf, and took in some nature on Sunday at Anna Ruby falls as well as Brasstown Bald.

We played mini golf and after one of my 3 hole-in-one shots, Kevin snapped this photo of me in all the pregnant glory. He won the game but luckily we had ice cream after so really we both won.

Ember had a blast on her weekend without mom and dad – going to Princess Day at the zoo as well as Coolidge Park on Saturday where she saw a friend from school but decided she’d rather ride the carousel than play in the splash pad.

We just wrapped up the World’s Longest Yard Sale for the 3rd year in a row. Ember found the best treasure (in the stuff we were selling of course – we always end up swapping items between my friends and I while we try to sell things to all the other customers) of the day and was very excited to tell everyone “I’m a dog! Woof!” In her New To Her Blues Clues costume.

She was also very pleased to see her old swing was back out for Baby Zora and we can only cross our fingers that it will last until Zora arrives. Ember has been vigorously pushing her dolls in Zora’s swing the past two days. It’s a good opportunity to encourage “slow” and “gentle” for new babies.

We are expecting to meet Baby Zora on 09/09/19. Not only is that a great date (says the mom with a 10/10 birthday), but it also puts us right at 39 weeks for a scheduled C-section. Nothing is finalized, but that’s the hope at the moment.

We are all starting to get more excited than nervous (I think) and Ember can’t wait to teach Baby Zora how to run this house!
