On September 9th, 2020 Zora had her first birthday! We woke up and had bacon and eggs for breakfast before launching into a full day of birthday fun. Mom knew everyone would mostly be eating cake the rest of the day, so she had to at least TRY for a real meal.

Zora’s birthday was all about rainbows!

She was excited to have us all sing her Happy Birthday and was even more excited about her birthday cake!

Ember was a very kind, loving, and patient Birthday helper – I think she was actually excited FOR Zora almost the entire day. She definitely encouraged us to sing Happy Birthday at least 4 times. Mom suggested she help Zora with her cake after waiting patiently to try some. Zora didn’t seem to mind sharing.

Ember helped Zora open her gifts throughout the day. The morning was just Mom, Dad, Ember and Zora playing and opening gifts for a bit.

And then Mamaw, Granddaddy and Aiden came to visit on the screened in porch and we sang again and opened some more gifts.

After that, it was nap time. After nap, Gigi came to visit with a BIG gift for Zora!

She was excited to open it and even more excited to take her first ride!

Zora has 6 teeth – two on bottom, four on top! She loves to eat pouches and yogurt bites and REALLY loves cheese puffs. She is crawling everywhere and is an expert at pulling herself up on everything. She says “Mama, Dada, Go, No” and sometimes “Oh no!” She has little interest in walking – why bother when you can crawl everywhere you want to go?

She is a silly good natured baby. She has been sleeping through the night for almost a month now!! Poor little thing spiked a fever a week ago and had to get tested for COVID 19 – she was negative and apparently was just REALLY teething, but it was scary for everyone.
Zora’s first year has been a wild one – I’ve been home with her for 9 out of the 12 months she has been here with us which has been a hidden blessing, even though it can be hard sometimes. It feels like she just got here and like she’s always been with us. She makes our little family complete and we are so happy to have her. Happy First Birthday, Zora! Can’t wait to see what the next one looks like!
