February & March

The time goes so quickly. We are still home, but are happy to say that everyone in our small family circle has been fully vaccinated!! We are excited for case numbers to go down so we can dip our toes back into “regular life.”

Daily, the girls play together and on their own, I get work squeezed in and we enjoy the warm weather as Spring arrives.

Driveway Ballet has started again for Ember and this time around Zora feels that each class is just a challenge for her to try to join. We have fun weekly.

We have started to have more play dates outside with new and old friends and the girls are enjoying getting to play with other kids. We still spend lots of quality time together, and I’m glad that even when the girls go back to school in June we plan to only be there 3 days a week. Seeing how much they enjoy each other makes me realize how sad I would be to see them apart all day 5 days a week at this age – as well as how much I enjoy being with them together.

Zora is talking all the time – she still babbles a lot but she has words she says very distinctly: Mama, Dada, Daniel (tiger), No, Go, etc. Mostly she is obsessed with Baby Shark recently. She refers to every screen (phone, tablet, tv) as “Daniel!” in an attempt to watch Daniel Tiger. She has started playing with toys more actively and is absolutely into everything. She has no issue walking and likes to run as much as possible and LOVES to pick up and carry large and heavy things.

She and Ember play together often and it only ends in screaming half of the time.

I am having lots of feelings about the kids return to school. On one hand, it will be good for all of us. On the other hand, I will miss these days of slow mornings (starting at 7am when Ember bursts into Zora’s room singing) and no schedules. Our days are split into two – before nap and after nap. We play at home, play outside, do crafts, visit friends, spend time with family. I am looking forward to having our back yard pool out again this year and taking the kids on weekend trips and going to soccer games.

This has been a crazy year but I wouldn’t trade my time with the girls for anything.
